Granite Roadbase

Rip out your lawn

Now is the time to get your driveways, parking areas, RV and toy parking pads ready for winter.

Our granite roadbase is the superior material at the best price in Denver. We also sell recycled concrete and recycled asphalt when available, but both are in very short supply.

Just a 2 inch average depth of any roadbase, leveled out and compacted should last you 4-6 years depending on the amount of traffic and how carefully you plow it in the winter. A 3 inch average depth will last approximately twice as long.

You can see all the information on each material on their pages in our Products Section. Call us at 720-298-0948 with any questions and to get a free material and delivery bid.

Multiple Use Landscaping Materials

Multiple use landscaping materials are different types of landscaping and construction materials that can be used for several types of projects interchangeably.

Class 6 granite roadbase, class 1 structural fill dirt, granite and river rock crusher fines work the same for most home projects and install the same, compact the same and cost less than other materials. Using one material for a couple different projects will also help to cut down the amount of deliveries you'll need to complete your job, saving you time and money.

City Xeriscape Resources Denver Metro and Front Range Areas

Because of the cost of watering lawns and water restrictions in some areas, the cities of the Denver Metro area are encouraging homeowners to Xeriscape at least part of your lawn. This will help you save money on water and all the time spent working on the lawn; weeding, fertilizing and mowing.

Xeriscaping definition - Xeriscape landscaping promotes water efficiency by using plants that are native and adaptable to Colorado's semi-arid climate. Denver Water coined the word in 1981 by combining "landscape" and the Greek word "xeros," which means dry. Xeriscaping is not large expanses of rock, cactus or sparse planting. Through appropriate plant selection, soil amendments, mulch, and irrigation, a lush landscape can be produced.

How We Save You Money!

When you buy materials from us you're only paying for the materials and delivery. You're not paying for all the extra costs associated with the operation of the landscaping materials company yards.

Additional costs such as the repeated handling of the materials that leads to more rock dust and foreign material in your landscaping material, the inventory expense of keeping all those materials in their yard, sometimes for months, all the overhead that goes with operating one of those yards and the per ton expense, added to the price of liability insurance that is added to the cost of materials to allow people to walk around and look at materials and to be able to load other peoples vehicles.

We only deliver and have an 8 ton minimum delivery. We can sell all colored rock they do and we buy it from the same places they do. We focus on the local river rock and mountain granite and related products; 3/4" minus and 1-1/2" Mountain Granite and Local River Rock, Pea Gravel, Concrete Sand, Squeegee, Class 1 Structural Fill Dirt, Granite and River Rock Crusher Fines and all sizes of Granite RipRap.

We give you an exact material and delivery price to your project, all costs included and do not surprise you. There are never additional costs or charges. Ever. And you get the freshest material direct from the quarry without all those extra costs and rock dust. Call us today at 720-298-0948 for with any questions and to receive a no cost or obligation material and delivery Bid. We really can save you money!

Home And Garden Projects

We Deliver Your Materials Direct From The Source.

You don't pay for handling the material several times or inventory costs (extra charges).

Because the material is handled less, you receive cleaner material for less money.

Of all the landscaping materials and construction aggregates available in the Denver Metro area, some are more popular than others because of their availability, versatility, price and demand. Many of these materials have multiple uses that may save you time and money when completing your projects. That is covered on the MUM page (multiple use materials).

For most popular decorative landscaping materials it is a toss up between 3/4 inch minus and 1-1/2" Mountain Granite or Local River Rock. They are both produced locally and are used by the majority of homeowners and builders because they are attractive and the least expensive materials. Both materials have many landscaping uses as well as driveways, parking areas, retaining walls and drainage applications. Next most popular is pea gravel, then squeegee, then sand.

The most popular construction aggregate used around the home, farm and ranch are Class 6 Roadbase. Because all local landscaping materials companies carry it in one form or another; Granite Roadbase, Recycled Concrete and Recycled Asphalt. Not all these products work well in all situations. See our MUM page for more information.

For most home projects like under pavers, artificial turf, driveways, parking areas, under garden sheds, RV, boat and motorcycle parking pads and under shipping containers you won't find a better material for the money to use in your project project. Fill Dirt is a versatile product, when purchased and used correctly. It is basically good for filling in swimming pools or large holes. It can be used for a variety of projects around the home, but we often wonder if many people are buying based only on the price, not what the best use is, which can cause themselves problems in the future. Fill dirt is generally poor material and is inert. That means it has little or no fertility and should never be used where you are trying to grow anything. That's why its fill dirt, not topsoil or roadbase, etc.. Most fill dirt for sale on the local internet sites is procured from construction or excavating companies for free, and that's about what it's worth! Once it is dumped on your property the purchase is legally complete. Fill dirt often has a lot of clay in it and can have large, very hard clods in it that make it difficult to work with unless you have a large machine.

We get about 1 call per month from people that purchased the "cheap" fill dirt off the Internet and it is so poor they don't even want it on their property. We screen our fill dirt, which means we run it through a machine that takes out the clods and makes it much easier to work with without a machine. It is still very poor material. Over the years we have found that in the vast majority of situations, Class 1 Structural Fill will work far better. It never has any clods, is also an inert material (no fertility) but it compacts, stays compacted, will not expand when it gets wet and is overall a far superior product for slightly more on a per ton basis.

Crusher Fines are the next most a popular and versatile product. We sell and deliver both Granite Crusher Fines and River Rock Crusher Fines. They are 1/4 inch minus (meaning the largest parts are 1/4 inch, down to the fines (minus). Made from crushing larger granite and river rock. Crusher fines are similar to breeze, but breeze has larger particles, usually 3/8 inch minus, are more expensive and don't always stay compacted as well. Breeze does come in different colors, if that is important to your project. Crusher fines are used for walkways and paths, under artificial turf and putting greens, under shrubs and hedges for inexpensive groundcover, driveways and parking areas, under and around fire pits, under and around pavers, flagstone and strip stone, horse stalls and pens, and any other use you can think of.

These are the most popular sold in the Denver Metro area for home and business landscaping projects and these are the products we sell and deliver the most of. There are many other landscaping materials available in the area. We buy them from the same places all the other companies do, we just don't mark them up as much because we deliver them direct from the source to you.

Pleas feel free to call us at 720-298-0948 if you have any questions about any landscaping material, their best, most economical use, to receive a no cost or obligation material and delivery Bid and our delivery schedule.

Now is a great time to finish your landscape material projects such as; home foundation drainage, top dress your driveway with roadbase or gravel to be ready for heavy snow, renovate your landscaping in preparation for the holidays and so on.

Do it now while the temperatures are still comfortable and working the material is easy. As always we are here to help you schedule delivery and to provide a "No Cost or Obligation Bid” for all of your landscape needs. We are here to help you with the best materials, product knowledge and pricing. Call us Today!

We have beautiful 3/4 inch and 1-1/2" Local River Rock and Mountain Granite decorative rock that is very popular, both because it is so attractive and because in some cases our price is 50 percent less than the landscaping material companies.

Our Local River Rock is available in both 3/4 inch size and 1-1/2" size. The 3/4 inch rock covers 105 square feet, 2 layers deep and the 1-1/2" rock covers 80 square feet, 2 layers deep. It is necessary to put the rock at least 2 layers deep in order to create the total darkness under the material that along with the landscaping fabric helps to keep weeds from growing.

This is the same rock that the landscaping materials companies sell as Western or Multi Color River Rock for $60 dollars or more per ton.

Call us or click on the Request a Bid button to receive an no cost or obligation material and delivery Bid. The 3/4 inch and 1-1/2" Mountain Granite decorative rock is the most popular landscaping rock not only because it is beautiful but it is over 32 percent less per ton than the Local River Rock!

That means you can complete your project for 32 percent less money, or do 32 percent more landscaping! It is Denver's most budget friendly landscaping rock. Because it comes from the west side of Denver, delivery can be far less than the local river rock which comes from 30 miles north of Denver.

A quick note on delivery. It really helps to know your aggregates and where they come from. The closer the material is to the delivery address, the cheaper it is to deliver. As an example rip rap is heavy and it has to be hauled by specialized trucks, so the closer you are to the source, the less you spend.

Knowing where landscape materials come from and the suitable substitutes can really save you money, time and aggravation.

Call or email us for a material and delivery bid today.

Considerations When Hiring Landscape Labor

When you hire someone to install landscaping materials on your property, there are some basic precautions to take.

All conversations involving the work to be done like removal of old landscaping and installation of new decorative material, or establishing a start date, finish date, payment timetable, etc., must be done by text or email. In other words, GET IT IN WRITING.

Some small companies will just remove or install the material you have purchased. Many will want to supply the material to you and have you install it.

You need to get an itemized bid or quote, stating per ton price of material required, amount of landscaping fabric purchased and installed, etc... Be sure and get a text or email copy of all project costs as well as scope of contract. Not the expected costs (wiggle room) or projected costs (more wiggle room).

The installers must include their name, company name, if any, their phone number, business insurance (if required), etc. This is to protect you. If the company says they have insurance, ask them for a copy of the policy and let them know them you are going to verify it.

If they don't have insurance, and many small landscaping companies don't, check with your home insurance carrier to see if your homeowners insurance covers any laborer injured working on your property. If it's not included in your policy, most companies can add it for a small amount of money.

Above all never, never, never pay anything in advance.

Multiple Use Materials

There are many types of landscaping materials that have multiple uses that may save you money.

Either on the material, but especially on delivery cost. They are Class 6 Roadbase, Class 1 Structural Fill, Crusher Fines (Breeze), Pea Gravel, Squeegee and Sand.

Example: Class 6 Roadbase - Specifically Granite or Recycled Concrete is also a Class 1 Structural Fill. It contains no clay, is non-expansive and it is always available throughout the metro area. It can be used under pavers and for your driveway or parking area, behind retaining walls, RV and boat parking pads, under garden sheds and shipping containers, under artificial turf, patio fire pits and garden paths, home and building foundation drainage and much more.

Rather than getting a delivery of 8 tons of Crusher Fines or Class 1 Structural Fill and 7 tons of Class 6 Roadbase for your projects, you may want to consider purchasing a 15 ton load of Class 6 Roadbase. It compacts to the same hardness and actually has a higher porosity index (drains better) than some of the other materials. It also works the other way too. At our prices Class 1 Structural Fill - is the same price as roadbase and will do everything it does, except make good roads. For all other uses it works exactly the same.

Granite or River Rock Crusher Fines - works well under pavers, artificial turf, garden and lawn paths, fire pits, as low cost landscaping material around trees and shrubs and much more.

Pea Gravel can be used for walkways and garden paths, dog and chicken runs, play areas, as inexpensive ground cover around shrubs and trees, parking areas and driveways. Squeegee can be used for small dog play areas and runs, chicken scratch, under swing sets and trampolines, walkways, garden paths, fire pits, etc.. Sand can be used for play boxes, under and around pavers, tilled into the garden to loosen the soil and add to moisture retention, for playgrounds and more.

3/4 inch minus Mountain Granite and River Rock is the least expensive decorative material in the metro area because it covers more area per ton than 1-1/2" rock for the same price. It is used for driveways and parking areas, around trees and shrubs, landscaping all around your home, behind retaining walls, french drains and various other drainage applications.

If you have any questions about these or any other materials we sell, please call us at 720-298-0948 of click the Request a Bid Button on any page of our site.

We Will Save You As Much Work As Possible

We will thoughtfully place materials to minimize the amount on your part.

But due to a change in the type of dump trucks we use, at this time we are not able to spread dump the roadbase as well as we did in the past. Call us today for more information.

Use Our Material Calculators

Make sure you do not get caught short of the needed materials.

It is easy to underestimate the amount of material you need. Our estimators are based on years of experience and pertain directy to the material in quesstion.

Before you place your order, make sure you have run the neessary calculations and ordered the correct amount of your material. It costs roughly the same to deliver nine tons as it does eight tons.

Ordering extra material AFTER you accept delivery is expensive. Get it right the first time. Each material page has a caluator for that material.
